Incoming sophomores took the Accuplacer test in April of the their 9th grade year. This test was used to place students (along with transcripts) in the proper math class and to determine if the student was yet college ready in math. Comparing the results of April’s test to the results when the same students tested again in December of their sophomore year, the growth was quite amazing. There were 3 levels of math where students could be placed: College Level,Not CollegeLevel and Not College Level-Math Lab. Of those originally placing in the lowest level, 32% of them moved up 2 levels to being College Level, 53% of those in the middle Not College Level moved up to being College Level and only 16% of those in Math Lab stayed in the lowest level. The numbers prove the Math Lab program is very successful in moving students toward being College Level in math.
